The Best New Fall 2020 Pieces from Carolina Herrera & How To Wear Them

We’ve rounded up all the best FW20 garments from Carolina Herrera’s latest collection. Find out how to style them for next season here!

The Ruffled Dress

Statement dresses are a must for the fall/winter season and Carolina Herrera’s expertly layered black dress is perfect for those who favour volume over length. The alternating levels of lace and layered organza ruffles add some drama to the short dress, with the balloon-style sleeves that gather at the wrist before flaring back out add to the exaggerated silhouette.

How to wear With a sculptural dress like this, you want to keep the rest of your silhouette streamlined. Elongate the legs with some tall platform sandals and accessorize with a mini bag that will look even tinier amongst the vast proportions of this dress.

The Cape

The cape was also seen at Jason Wu this season, though Carolina Herrera’s iteration is perhaps more true to the traditional silhouette. Arriving in a sleek tan shade, the cape is expertly draped, falling beautifully over the shoulders and moving fluidly. Single welt pockets on the front and a concealed fastening round out the effortlessly chic look.

How to wear While the cape can easily add an elegant flair to any look, whether its casualwear or occasion-wear, we’d like to style it over a roll-neck day dress with some classic leather loafers.

The Pink Suit

Fuchsia is the go-to shade for FW20 if the NYFW runways have been anything to go by. Carolina Herrera’s tailored two-piece suit is a sleek and stylish take on the tone that can be worn as statement separates or as a bold full-on look. The subtle, oversized jacquard floral print slightly breaks up the hot pink look. and the flap pockets, sharp lapels and power shoulders add some definition to the silhouette.

How to wear If you opt to combine the jacket and pants into one vibrant look, add some definition to the silhouette as on the runway by using a wraparound belt to cinch in at the waist. Platform boots will also help elongate the legs and break up the tonal look if you select a pair in a contrasting colorway.

The Fluted Dress

Orange is that rare kind of shade that can be trans-seasonal, working just as well for summer as it does for fall. This fluted dress then, is ideal for either season, depending on how you style it. The mock neck complements the A-line shape, which is given more fluidity thanks to the fluted pleats that run down vertically. The slightly open sleeves, which gather back in at the cuffed wrist add an offbeat, cape-like shape to the dress.

How to wear The warm tones of this dress will work well with complementary golden jewelry and you can elevate the look even further with a bold red lip.

The Oversized Tunic

Playing with proportions was a central theme in Carolina Herrera’s FW20 collection. This versatile garment in emerald green with jacquard print works as both an oversized tunic, paired with matching pants as shown on the runway or as a minidress on its own. The balloon-style sleeves add some off-kilter structure to the piece, the silhouette of which can be adjusted by the oversized belt around the waist.

How to wear Take a note from the runway and pair this tunic with matching pants in the colder weather or dare to bare it all by wearing it as a minidress. For the latter, may we recommend teaming the minidress with some sky-high heels for a look that will stand out at any event.
